Welcome to Mummy Expert, a blog where I will put all of mto mums pulling together to y knowledge and experience to paper. As a mum of 3 children, I have gone through many challenges and triumphs while on my journey in parenthood.
Since my time as a stay at home mum it has become more apparent that everyone seems to have an opinion on what is right and wrong when rearing children. What techniques are best when it comes to discipline, breast vs bottle, co-sleeping vs independent sleeping. Even when it comes to food, everyone seems to have an opinion. I let other opinions get to me to a stage where I did not want to hear what anyone else had to say. However over the years, I have learnt that other peoples advice is the key. Always listen, take on board what may work for you and dismiss the rest. I once heard that it takes a village to raise a child, at the time I thought that this was utter nonsense but now I tend to agree. Children are complex creatures and they do not all work the same way.
One of the main things that I have learnt is that there is no perfect fit per family or child. What may work for one child may not work for another. You may need to try many different parenting techniques before you find one that works for you. This is where listening to others for advice comes in really handy.
At times I feel incompident because I may have made the wrong decision. It is these times that makes us learn what is going to work and what is not. I have learnt to adapt and as long as I feel that my choice is the best one when I make it then it is the right choice.
